Nursing Program Purpose

The purpose of the Highline College Nursing Program is to create compassionate, skilled, and innovative nursing professionals who are dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of diverse communities. Through a rigorous curriculum, hands-on clinical experiences, and a commitment to lifelong learning, we prepare our students to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. Our program fosters an environment of inclusivity, critical thinking, and professional integrity, empowering graduates to excel in various healthcare settings and to lead with empathy and expertise in the ever-evolving field of nursing.

End of Program Student Learning Outcomes

• Professionalism, Collaboration and Teamwork - Integrate professional behaviors, collaboration with members of the healthcare team, and quality care for patients, families, and patient populations.
• Clinical Judgment - Interpret patient data and cues to determine appropriate interventions, responding to changes in the patient condition.
• Safety - Mitigate risk of harm to patients and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance.
• Person-Centered Care - Provide person-centered care across the lifespan for a diverse community in a manner that is holistic, transparent, and responsive to the person and chosen family.
• Informatics and Quality Improvement - Integrate information and technology using sound clinical judgments and evidence-based practice to continuously improve the quality of healthcare ecosystems.
