The Admissions Department facilitates the admission of and record creation for eligible applicants.  We administer residency for tuition purposes and implement certain Highline selective admission processes.  In carrying out our mission, we strive to provide high-quality service to prospective, current and returning students through accurate data management, comprehensive communication and a welcoming environment.  We are committed to ensuring students a successful transition into, completion of, and success beyond, Highline College.  Our department provides service and support in the following areas:

General Admissions

We manage the admissions process for all domestic applicants seeking to be matriculated students at Highline College.  Admission is open to any individual who is at least 18 years of age.  Admission is granted to those under 18 who have completed high school, whether by diploma or equivalent.  Others under the age of 18 are admitted conditionally based upon their participation in one of our High School Programs.  Admission is not limited to those with educational experience, previous academic achievements or any particular citizenship status.  Highline is an open-door campus; all are welcome.  We help students to identify next steps and to connect with key resources. Residency for Tuition Purposes

Based on information applicants provide, we make determinations related to residency status.  We also work with students whose residency status has changed.

Selective Admissions:  Associate Degrees and Bachelor Degrees

Some of our programs require students to apply and to be accepted specifically into those programs.  Associate Degree programs requiring selective admissions are:  Polysomnography, Registered Nursing, and Respiratory Care.  All Bachelor's Degrees require selective admissions:  Cybersecurity and Forensics, Global Trade, Respiratory Care and Youth Development.

Student Records

We support the work of Registration & Records by collecting basic student record data for new and returning students.  We update student records on an ongoing basis.
